The Myth of Revenge

When the State hangs Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru to death:

We believe we have put an end to terrorism.
We believe we have sent a strong message to deter terror groups.
We believe it is the victory of our democracy.
We believe we are good people putting an end to bad people.

We believe that the pain of those who lost their loved ones is going to reduce by killing somebody else's loved ones.

We believe that the State has the supreme authority to take away human life.
We believe that fulfilling the public opinion is more important than protecting the very basic rights of human beings.

We believe revenge is the only way to solve problems.
We believe it is a cool thing to conduct hangings in utmost secrecy.

We believe revenge killings by the State can influence people to vote for a particular political party.
We believe that the family members of those put to death, are also terrorists and that, they must be kept in the haze.
We believe that India has finally used political will to demonstrate zero tolerance to terrorism.
We believe that our beliefs are the ultimate truth.

Probably, we forgot the repercussions of this statement:

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
