Indian Farmers Use Moblie Phones To Control Irrigation!

Several mobile phonesImage via Wikipedia
Mobile Operator Tata Teleservices is testing technology that allows farmers to use their mobile phones to remotely monitor and switch on irrigation pump sets in far flung locations.

The technology, called Nano Ganesh, is being tested in two villages in the Indian state of Gujarat.

In India, where the electricity supply is erratic, farmers often walk several kilometers to where their irrigation pumps are located, only to find that there is no electricity available, Lloyd Mathias, chief marketing officer of Tata Teleservices, said on Wednesday.

By dialing a code number from his mobile phone to a wireless device attached to the pump, farmers can now remotely monitor the electricity supply, and also switch the pump on and off, Mathias said.

The technology for this application was developed and is manufactured by Ossian Agro Automation in Pune in western India. To use the service, the farmer pays Tata Teleservices 2,700 rupees (US$56) for the device attached to the starter on the pump and another 2,000 rupees for the mobile phone, as well as monthly service charges. The mobile phone can be used by the farmer for other communications as well.

This One Made My Day!

As an amateur blogger, it feels great to receive encouraging comments!
The same thing happened with me today. The following comment on my very popular post God: Captured In Lens by Eddie Zacapa just made my day:

I enjoyed this post. I believe that we are all created in the image of God and can reflect God to others like a mirror. Unfortunately some of us have dirty mirrors that reflect our fallen humanity and fall short.
I believe God is Spirit and that his spirit is in every person. I believe he provides the energy that we all need to be alive. Yet, I think he is more than just energy: I think he has personality and we can have a relationship with him as well. I agree with you that God is in every one of us and that how we treat each other is a reflection of how we treat God's creation.
I believe that there is a divine song that is in all of us and that we are all playing out of tune or in tune with the song. When we are angry, bitter, and resentful we are out of tune with the song but when we are serving, loving and giving we are in tune with the divine song.
Thank you for this enlightening post!

This comment not only encouraged me to write more, but also gave me the required push to discover insights into those oblivious and long-forgotten things.
Thank you so much, Eddie!

So, we conclude to the following proverb:
Appreciation is an expensive gift which should be given freely.
So, my friend, pay someone a compliment today…encourage someone…you will not lose anything…
If we all encourage and compliment each other, then I am sure we’ll see a much more brighter and developed INDIA!

Which is Better - Time or Money?

They say, Time is Money...but I don't agree...

There are times when we spend money to save our time. For instance, we choose to fly to a destination instead of going by train. This simply saves our time, but not our money...

What is more important in our lives? Time or money..?

One of my friends, Sahil told me one day," We realize the importance of things only when they are temporarily not available".

So, do you think a billionaire values money more than a beggar does?

Or, is it that we make the most of our time when it is available in pleanty? For instance, students get one full year to study for their annual exams...But it is unlikely that anybody would value that one year of time...

But, once the exams start approaching...it is then that the value of time is truly understood.

Same is the case with money...He who works hard to earn every penny would obviously think twice before spending. This won't be the case with people who have inherited wealth from their previous generations...

As a matter of fact, we need to maintain the right balance between time and money.

These are all my viewpoints...

So, what would you say about time and money? Is time important or money? Which is the better one?

...And how would the judicious use of time and money benefit our nation?

Song Of Youth (...And For The Youth!)

Me and My Nation- India

As a young citizen of India,
armed with technology, knowledge and love for my nation, I realize, small aim is a crime.

I will work and sweat for a great vision, the vision of transforming India into a developed nation powered by economic strength with value system.
I am one of the citizens of a billion, only the vision will ignite the billion souls. It has entered into me, the ignited soul compared to any resource, is the most powerful resource on the earth, above the earth and under the earth.
I will keep the lamp of knowledge burning to achieve the vision-Developed India.

The above poem was written by our dear former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

This poem is called as 'The Song Of Youth'...

I strongly believe this poem should be placed in every household, school, college and university in India. Let this become a national oath.

We, the youth, are the future generation...the fate of our country lies in our hands...

Let us all understand the message of this poem....this poem is an inspiration, a motivation and a dream.

So, let us all join our hands together and make efforts....for a Developed India!

Is it Gateway or Getaway of India?

I had been to The Gateway Of India a couple of days ago...

My visit reminded me about the 26/11 attacks...

The Taj hotel seemed passive...trying to heal its wounds...

The road which leads to The Gateway of India is known as the Prem Ramchandani Marg. It is named after a hero, who gave his life for the nation at the tender age of 24. His words, inscribed in gold, on a slab, are still echoing in my ears - I regret I have but one life, to give for my country.

I wholeheartedly salute his patriotism and his dedication towards our country.

Besides all this, the Gateway Of India stands as a heritage monument with the serene Arabian Sea on one side, and the collection of beautiful building on another.

The vicinity at the monument is pathetic...it is a complete mess! People can't understand the signifance of a national heritage site. There is garbage spread around...

It is not only because of the ignorance of people, but also because of 1 important reason - There is not a single dustbin in the vicinity of The Gateway of India.
When asked, the local policemen don't know what a 'dustbin' means...For me, this is quite shameful.

Describing the Arabian Sea, don't be shocked to find empty plastic bottles and trash in the waters...

We people don't seem to understand the meaning of cleanliness. After my previous post, these are all reasons why you must maintain cleanliness...

Just think, what would tourists think of us? Do we want ourselves to be labelled as naive people of a great country?

Just think about it, once more...

We don't want to bring our culture and customs to shame...

If all this goes on, then soon we will have to name 'Gateway Of India' as 'Getaway of India'!

What if cleanliness remains unclean…?

10072009014

This is a poster displayed just beside the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) Headquarters at Mumbai.
The banner printed in Marathi says “Clean-Up! Chakachak Mumbai”.

What do you think, my dear friends…?
Don’t you think instead of encouraging cleanliness, this poster is actually discouraging people…?
For me, this is actually a disgrace to this Clean-Up! initiative.
They say, Cleanliness is next to Godliness… but what we can see is Cleanliness posters are next to someone spitting tobacco at them…What a shame!
What do you have to say about this…?

The Enigma Of Life...

The Bhagavad Gita preaches:

Life is an Adventure ... Dare it
Life is a Beauty ... Praise it
Life is a Challenge ... Meet it
Life is a Duty ... Perform it
Life is a Love ... Enjoy it
Life is a Tragedy ... Face it
Life is a Struggle ... Fight it

Life is a Promise ... Fulfill it
Life is a Game ... Play it
Life is a Gift ... Accept it

Life is a Journey ... Complete it
Life is a Mystery ... Unfold it
Life is a Goal ... Achieve it
Life is an Opportunity ... Take it
Life is a Puzzle ... Solve it
Life is a Song ... Sing it
Life is a Sorrow ... Overcome it
Life is a Spirit ... Realize it

Life is a mystery...and to understand this mystery, we need to be aware of reality. Reality doesn't mean those TV programmes or Page 3 updates...it is just an understanding of the self and our surroundings.

We are busy in our day-to-day routine and we perhaps don't have time even for ourselves.

All philosophers who ever walked on this planet gave simple truths of life wrapped in intricate sentences. For instance, just try to understand what message these sentences try to give out:

Words are only indicators indicating the indicated which is other than the indicator. - Anonymous

Man is two men; one is awake in darkness, the other is asleep in light. - Kahlil Gibran

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite. - Paul Dirac

Only the dumb envy the talkative. - Kahlil Gibran

There are two sides not only of every coin, but of every story, every event, every situation and of course, of every person! - Parth Dave

Mind you, my friends, I am not here to preach philospohy and stuff...

All I want to do is enrich the minds of my fellow Indians and make them realize their purpose in life.

We all must strive to be a better human being and a better citizen of our great country, INDIA.

...What is your perspective about this topic? Do you agree with my views?

Let the pictures do the talking…

Hello friends,
Today, I would like to show some of my favourite snaps defining India to the fullest...
I don’t know how this photo turned out so brilliantly. But I must mention that it sends out a very subtle message to all of us…
It says: India is a beautiful land studded with tons of hill stations. Let those hill stations remain divine and virgin places. Let them be sparkled and highlighted with rich culture, modest people and serene beauty.
Here’s another one captured at Chandigarh:
I just love this photograph! I am the one in this photo and this one was clicked by my Dad.
This picture speaks: Oh, my dear fellow, let there be light everywhere…Let wisdom and knowledge shine upon every individual on this planet…and let there be happiness and prosperity for ever!
This one was again taken in Shimla:
This impressive facade is actually known as the ‘Indian Institute of Advanced Studies’. Here, faculty members and students do a lot of research in Humanities.
Now, this photo says: Hello Indians, wake up! Let us all vow to preserve our heritage structures since they are also a part of our national wealth. Let us all not ignore them…since as the adage goes, ‘Old is Gold’.

My dear friends…what do you think about these photographs? Do you feel every picture has a story to tell…?

The Sealink Is....

Awesome!
Incredible!
Gorgeous!
Magnificent!
Royal!
....and what else can I say..?

The Bandra-Worli Sealink is a majesty in itself!

This megastructure is ought to add another feather to Mumbai's already beautiful architecture...

...And I am already expecting more and more innnovations in our nation's infrastructure.

Anyway, let us not force our Government to make a complete revamp of Mumbai city as it may affect our financial budget dear.

And, let us respect all monuments..and structures...since they are a part of our nation's wealth!

Simultaneously, let us all maintain cleanliness and make India a better place to live!

My Swiss Bank Connection!

Swiss Bank reveals Indians have more money than rest of the world...

Just have a look at this post from Tax Guru.

This article is quite shocking, considering factors of poverty and unemployment in our nation. We, as united Indians, should urge the Government to take necessary actions...

What do you think can we do to withdraw all our assets from the Swiss Bank?

P.S. In my next post, I am going to describe my trip of the Bandra-Worli Sealink, a majesty in itself!

So, watch out for my next post...

Fuel Is Free!!!

Just have a look at the above advertisement…
…What I can say is these guys feel FUEL IS FREE!

The biggest weakness of this advertisement is that it strongly discourages car pooling.
Petrol prices are shooting up every day…since our petroleum reserves are limited.
There have been many campaigns urging people to save fuel. You can also have a look at my post: 10 Ways To Save Fuel

I feel this advertisement will increase sales of two-wheelers, thereby increasing demand for fuel.
I urge you not to follow the above trend (as shown in the advertisement) as it shall increase traffic as well as limit our nation’s resources.

This video is kind-of an addictive one. All it shows is that women are breaking those shackles of sitting behind the driver. This is complete nonsense! This is not related to woman’s independence and individuality at all…
I guess there will be students and young women who will buy this two-wheeler…just by getting influenced from this stupid video.

I wish to say only 1 thing – Change your perspective. The perspective of viewing things, be it modern gadgets or automobiles. Think about the nation first. I don’t say you give up all your materialistic things…, but try not to harm our nation in any way. After all, it’s our nation, INDIA!
